Now that all of the steps are complete, it’s time to proceed to the last one. Gear up and put your belts on. It’s time to start your journey in taekwondo!
Are you excited to begin? We will guide you through all the steps with this article. Let us begin with your level. Here’s how you can determine your level in Taekwondo based on the belts and techniques taught in each level:
Step 1: Taekwondo levels
- White belt to
A white belter is someone who is a novice, or a beginner in Taekwondo. They are the ones who have just begun their journey in Taekwondo. For this class, you will learn the basic techniques in Taekwondo.
- Yellow belt
The yellow belt is the mastery stage for everything that was taught in the white belter stage. Here, you will learn how to polish your technique to perfection.
- Green belt
The green belt is the stage where a student will learn other techniques outside of the basics. You will be taught how to be flexible in this class to succeed in Taekwondo.
- Blue belt
The blue in Taekwondo represents the sky. For this level, your kicks, techniques, and movements should be aimed towards the sky and reach as far up as possible. The focus of this class is aimed at accuracy, speed, and balance.
- Red belt
Red is a colour that signifies danger. This stage in Taekwondo is where the most dangerous and knowledgeable students belong. For the red belt, you are expected to perform excellently in all the techniques without a hitch. This is also the stage where you are allowed to handle your fight alone and with very little guidance from your master.
- Black belt
The black belt belongs to the best of the best in Taekwondo. This belt is worn only by the first degree “Dan” in the academy. A person who wears the black belt has complete mastery of the sport.
Step 2: Taekwondo program
Here at Master Myung’s Taekwondo Academy, we want to give everyone an equal opportunity to learn Taekwondo. To do this, we set up different programs aimed at challenging every stage and age of learners. Review the programs and see which one works best for you:
- Family/adult class
This class offers a practical program for both men and women. The routine and practice are designed to help adults train their muscles and provide sufficient workout for the body.
- Toddler/junior class
The toddler and junior classes are available for children ages 4 to 12 years old. This program provides a gentle learning environment that encourages children to perform with diligence and determination. Important values such as respect, self-confidence, pride, discipline, and bond are honed at this level.
- High-performance program
Our high-performance program is specifically designed to enhance and develop the skills of athletes in an Olympic level training and environment. The program is based on modern sports science principles and traditional training techniques mixed in with the values of our academy.
Along with the intensive training, students at this program are required to follow an intense strength and conditioning program to help them further perfect their skills in the arena. The training includes expert level defence and offence techniques taught by our academy’s very own Master Myung.
Step 3: Taekwondo class schedule
Now that we got the levels and programs out of the way, it’s time to determine when you can start your Taekwondo lessons.
